New sister site

From our own experience living abroad, we've known that effective "fluency" in another country doesn't just come from building up your vocabulary, but requires learning a shared cultural vocabulary too — knowing the culture's top sports stars, musicians, political leaders, and more.

So we were inspired to take the experience we've gained with Test Your Vocab, and today we've launched a brand-new sister site Test Your Culture, which measures your level of fluency in English-speaking culture. Take the quiz and see how you score!

Then we'll be performing the same kinds of statistical analyses on cultural items (as we've done with vocabulary here), to answer questions like how much variation there is in cultural knowledge (more or less than vocabulary?), how it changes with age, and what other kinds of patterns there might be. Let the research continue...
